WHAT IS COUNSELLING
Whoever you are, whatever your age, whatever the situation or problem you are facing, whether you are worried, depressed, confused, low self esteem, or wanting to make some changes in your life, talking in confidence to a qualified therapist in a safe and secure environment can help.
- Counselling provides a confidential setting where you have time to talk about any concerns you may have.
- Counselling provides you with the safe space to talk through an issue that is very personal to you without feeling judged or criticised.
- Counselling aims to help you see a difficulty in a different way and finds other options for tackling your problem more efficiently.
- Counselling can help to address thoughts feelings and behaviours which are having a negative impact on you.
WHAT TO EXPECT
For a positive therapeutic experience a minimum of 6 sessions is recommended. There is no limit to how many sessions are available; however, there should always be a goal to work towards. Each session lasts 50 minutes. The initial session will be used to explore the overall situation and the particular areas of your life which are difficult. It will also provide you with the opportunity to decide whether you feel counselling is suited to you right now. The therapist can also inform you if an alternative therapy or support will be more appropriate for you.
Sometimes Counselling/Therapy can make you feel worse before you feel better. This is due to getting in touch with difficulty feelings we often try and avoid. The therapist will support your throughout this process. The ultimate goal of counselling and therapy is to help you gain a greater insight, greater control, and a confidence in making decisions to tackle life’s difficulties.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
